Jan 25: National Popular Vote to speak at Indivisible Montgomery meeting

Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Kensington Park Library

Feeling helpless in the face of hate? Outraged by the obfuscation? Join Indivisible Montgomery and your fellow Montgomery County residents as we work for diversity, inclusion, transparency, and the empowerment of all Americans through political activism.

Because of state winner-take-all statutes, 5 of our 45 presidents have come into office without having won the most popular votes nationwide, including in 2000 and 2016.

One organization is trying to make sure that never happens again.

At the January 2020 meeting of Indivisible Montgomery, Eileen Reavey from the nonpartisan group National Popular Vote will:

  • Explain what the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is and why it is important
  • Address the most common questions and myths about the compact
  • Tell us where Maryland and Virginia stand on this issue
  • Give options for how we can help get the bill enacted
Eileen Reavey

Following Eileen’s presentation, we will write letters to voters in Georgia to encourage them to vote in November.

Admission is free. All are welcome.

Kensington Park Library
