Feb. 23: Virginia Canter of CREW to Speak at Indivisible Montgomery Meeting

Feeling helpless in the face of hate? Outraged by the obfuscation? Concerned about corruption? Join Indivisible Montgomery and your fellow Montgomery County residents as we work for diversity, inclusion, transparency, clean government, and the empowerment of all Americans through political activism. ​

At the February meeting of Indivisible Montgomery, Virginia Canter, Chief Ethics Counsel for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), will discuss:

  • The history of CREW and the work is doing
  • The breadth of Trump’s conflicts of interest
  • How CREW is taking the fight to Trump every day
  • What we can do to help

CREW is “dedicated to fighting the influence of money on our political system, [using] high-impact legal actions to target government officials who sacrifice the common good to special interests.”  Find out more at www.citizensforethics.org.

Following the main meeting, topic-specific committees (e.g., elections, corruption and conflicts of interest, science and the environment) will have the opportunity to meet in smaller groups. Guests interested in becoming more involved with Indivisible Montgomery are encouraged to visit with the committee leaders.

About the speaker:
Ms. Canter joined Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) as Chief Ethics Counsel in December 2016 after a long and distinguished career in public service. Prior to joining CREW, Ms. Canter has advised the Department of the Treasury, the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition, the International Monetary Fund, and the Securities and Exchange Commission on ethics. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar.
